The Associate Specialist, HR position is tasked with operational responsibilities which support both the Talent Acquisition and Employee Experience Team. The HR Generalist will support business needs, provide learning and development support, help facilitate employment engagement surveys and activities, and support change management initiatives created by the transformation of SHRM globally.

Your Day:

  • Supports the Leads, Employee Experience with employee learning and training needs, employee relation investigations/documentation needs.

  • Supports the TA Team with DEI and Employer Branding initiatives, scheduling interviews, and job postings to external sites.

  • Handles logistics associated with the administration of SHRM’s engagement and training events and activities (including, but not limited to, scheduling rooms, collaborating with SHRM’s Administrative Services Team for room and equipment set-up, etc.)

  • Supports the Executive Office in the implementation of employee engagement events.

  • Supports the Leads, Employee Experience, as needed, with exit interviews/surveys.

  • Manages compliance with federal and state employment law postings (physical and virtual) for SHRM headquarters and in all other states where SHRM has offices and/or employees.

  • Other duties as assigned

Must Haves:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience

  • 2 years of experience in HR

  • Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication (customer service) skills.

  • Ability to think critically, independently, and exercise sound judgment.

  • Ability to interact and work with a variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds at all levels of the organization.

  • Attention to detail and accuracy with a commitment to excellence; an outstanding work thic; and professionalism.

  • Ability to conduct online research.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Docs.

  • High level of initiative and self-motivation.

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to thrive, at times with ambiguity, in a fast-paced culture.

  • Ability to pivot quickly in the face of competing priorities.

  • Willingness to go “above and beyond” to complete assigned duties within critical deadlines.

Certifications

  • SHRM-CP, or ability to obtain certification within two year of employment with SHRM.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.

  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.

Work Environment

  • Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.

  • Travel Required: Occasional 0-10%
