SHRM Manager, eLearning in Alexandria, Virginia
The Educational Programs Department supports SHRM’s mission and strategic goals through the development and delivery of professional development programs to a global and domestic audience. This department is focused on building and sustaining educational partnerships with human resource professionals by providing curricular offerings to individuals and corporate members across professional experience levels, business sectors, and HR competencies. To enhance relationships with corporate clients, this department also provides discounts and opportunities for organizations to increase their total professional development value.
The Manager of eLearning leads the business operations and product management of our developing eLearning products portfolio. The Manager is responsible for setting the strategic direction for eLearning product development, while contributing to the financial growth and success of the portfolio. This role supports the Global Development division by expanding the product portfolio via strategic partnership, contributing to the identification of course development opportunities, managing all marketing and sales processes, managing the Learning Management System (LMS), and maintaining a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
Using quantitative and qualitative data, define, develop, and execute a strategic plan for future development of the portfolio.
Maintain knowledge and expertise regarding the competitive landscape in terms of professional learning courseware and online learning experiences.
Research and make recommendations regarding new educational technologies relevant to the organization’s market, product, and customer to enhance the learning experience.Conceptualize new product offerings and lead the expansion of the portfolio by identifying new opportunities, strategic partnerships, and collaborating across teams to create a compelling course development roadmap.
Business Operations & Management:
Serve as a key player in the division by supporting financial sustainability, with a keen focus on operations and exceptional customer service.Develop, maintain, and regularly report on the annual budget, forecasting and tracking product revenues and expenses within budget, monitor variances and plan appropriate adjustments to ensure sales goals are met and profit margins are maintained.
Ensure detailed process documentation is developed and maintained.Work closely with the marketing team to develop demand generation campaigns, go-to-market strategies, and associated collateral for each of the unique product lines.
Learn and translate user needs into detailed technical requirements.
Learning Management System (LMS) Management:
In partnership with the LMS administrator, oversee the day-to-day management, training, use, and support related to the use of the LMS for both internal and external clients.
Partner with the Technology team and the provider to identify and implement features/functionality to enhance the end user experience for customers.
Develop and disseminate user reports with analysis of the data, and formalize a customer feedback process to ensure the platform experience is aligned to expectations.
Management and Leadership:
Coach, mentor, and develop direct reports and instill a collaborative team culture.
Manage and guide staff performance, including regular meetings to track progress and identify professional growth opportunities, and overall performance.

High school degree or equivalent.
6 years of professional experience in product management in the education space, with an emphasis on developing online products; 10 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience managing LMS platforms.
Working knowledge of LMS platforms.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with key stakeholders at all levels.
Strong project management, organizational and time management skills.
Interest in technology trends and ability to integrate appropriately into products.
Sharp business acumen with demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions.
Ability to create, implement, and manage complex project plans independently.
Solid customer service commitment: resourceful, diplomatic, team-oriented and sensitive to the needs of customers, partners, and staff.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and learn technical information. Light lifting is required. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.
