Overview

The SHRM Foundation is a values-bases charity organization whose mission is to champion workforce and workplace transformation. It provides research-based solutions for challenging inclusion issues facing current and potential employees, scholarships to educate and develop HR professionals and opportunities for HR professionals to make a difference in their local communities. The SHRM Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management.

The Manager, Foundation Programs is a critical member of the SHRM Foundation team accountable for the engagement and stewardship of HR professionals, the audiences for which we are building inclusive places to work, and the subject matter experts and partners developing and/or participating in our programmatic offerings. The Manager, Foundation Programs is a dynamic and proven leader to manage and guide the development, administration and evaluation of SHRM Foundation’s programming, and provide leadership by facilitating innovation, collaboration and project impact.

Under the direction of Director, Foundation Programs, Manager provides overall programmatic and administrative responsibility for all aspects of Foundation programming and is responsible for overall project management, ensuring program quality and achievement of intended impact. The Manager, Foundation Programs participates in the conceptualization and development of program strategy, identifies desired outcomes, and collaborates to develop donor proposals. The Manager, Foundation Programs is accountable for ensuring engagement with appropriate SHRM business units where and when appropriate, ensuring strong, positive relationships are developed to the benefit of SHRM Foundation stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Your Day:

  • Develops annual and monthly operational plans that activate SHRM Foundation’s strategic plan, administers and manages SHRM Foundation programs, develops and monitors levels of engagement and measures of effectiveness for SHRM Foundation programs, proactively providing compelling outcome related content for public relations, communications and marketing purposes, and providing critical progress updates to internal and external stakeholders, making adjustments or updates to programs as needed.

  • Ensures all promotional communications, public relations and marketing activities are coordinated with SHRM communications and marketing leadership to ensure messages are on point. Responsible for working with the entire SHRM Foundation team and SHRM departments as appropriate to create evaluation measures, summarize and publicize event/conference outcomes, both financially and experientially.

  • Provides ongoing oversight, ensuring quality control and consistency of participation and evaluation of program initiatives and components.

  • Manages multiple projects and working groups simultaneously for all assigned products.Serves as a liaison to subject matter partners, industry experts, consultants and partner institutions.

  • Serves as a liaison to finance and accounting and other relevant departments in managing program budgets and developing and overseeing contracts.

  • Collaborates with SHRM research and SHRM product development and certification teams to develop and maintain program products as appropriate.

  • Helps to design evaluative measures, metrics and process for tracking program goals, objectives and outcomes.

  • Actively collaborates with the SHRM Foundation Development team to develop donor solicitation ideas, proposals, participates in donor meetings and track the fulfillment of donor commitments, related to the SHRM Foundation’s programs and initiatives, all SHRM Foundation events/conferences and awards.

  • Manages vendor relationships directly impacting SHRM Foundation inclusion initiative programs, and SHRM Foundation events and awards where appropriate.

  • Personify a dynamic, professional, personable style and serve as a spokesperson and organizational representative before a range of stakeholder audiences for SHRM Foundation.

  • Represents SHRM Foundation’s efforts linked to inclusion initiative work with public relations, communications and marketing activities. Maintains open lines of communication and works collaboratively with SHRM Membership and Government Relations departments related to SHRM Foundation inclusion initiative programmatic work and events to ensure alignment, coordination of efforts and identify opportunities to leverage the work of SHRM Foundation.

Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • 7 – 10 years of progressive program and leadership experience managing the development, implementation and promotion of either/both for-profit, non-profit programming, communications and public relations, and project management of high profile and high touch national and regional events/conferences programmatic planning.

  • Experience in volunteer, board member management experience.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, have an eye for detail yet an appreciation and understanding of the bigger picture.

  • Outstanding sponsor, partner, and peer collaboration and negotiations skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and grow capacity within teams working towards a shared vision and goal.

  • Possess oral and written communication skills and demonstrate a hospitable spirit, with a commitment and a knack for strategic thinking and an understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively, openly, take calculated risks and position new ideas and ways of doing business that inspire and excite stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational planning, presentation, and professional – technical writing skills.

  • Demonstrated approach to creative program development and the ability to manage program and event effectiveness to ensure SHRM Foundation’s investments are of the highest and best use.

  • Ability to think creatively and generate compelling ideas and identify opportunities to highlight the work of the SHRM Foundation, and highlight stakeholders, donors and those who benefit and grow professionally and personally as a result of SHRM Foundation’s efforts.

  • Highly proficient at working cross functionally and collaboratively across departments and with separate partners and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to create compelling and highly visible content and opportunities to promote programmatic work.

  • Excellent budgeting and financial planning acumen.

  • Ability to learn through feedback and collaboration with others across the organization.

  • Familiarity with monitoring, evaluation and reporting.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Strong technical skills, and experience with learning management systems.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit; talk and hear, use hands to type, file, handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. May require ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; or the ability to stand, walk, lift, carry and move light to medium weight. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and learn technical information. Light lifting is required. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.

Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment. This job requires moderate travel 20-30%.
