SHRM Member Engagement Associate in Alexandria, Virginia
The Member Engagement Associate serves as a primary point of contact in responding to SHRM professional and student members, volunteer leaders, prospective members including local members only, staff and other customers within an assigned geographic territory. Provides volunteer leaders SHRM information, maintains SHRM databases and participates in regional and other meetings as assigned. This position fulfills a critical support role in ensuring that numerous internal and external stakeholders’ requests are fulfilled in support of SHRM’s strategic priorities and key performance indicators and in alignment with our guiding principles.
YOUR TYPICAL DAY WILL INCLUDE:
Provide timely and accurate information and guidance by email, phone, and in-person to SHRM volunteer leaders, professional and student members, prospective members, staff and others while striving for excellence during each interaction. Ensure practices are customer-centric and focused on developing and enhancing the member experience while adhering to established policies.
Manage the official record for professional and student chapters, state councils, their volunteers and members to ensure: accurate processing and compliance with chapter and other affiliation requirements, chapter chartering and disaffiliation process is administered in collaboration with field staff, the collection, scoring and distribution of the required and optional annual reports and affiliate awards programs, etc.
Support the affiliate structure, in total over 800 affiliates, to ensure: timely and accurate response to inquiries and fulfillment of requests, rosters and other reports are run and distributed in accordance to policy, conducts the chapter audit process and membership updates within the database and the reporting of data anomalies, administration of the SHRM Conference Call policy.
Execute the launch of chapter eblast messages and other email messages as needed. Maintain accurate tracking documents of such communications and ensure they adhere to established policy and procedure.
Compile and distribute reports such as the quarterly membership reports. Collaborate with SHRM staff in preparing needed data for meetings and presentations to various audiences.
Participate and provide updates in meetings virtually and in-person, capture notes and other action items. Provide additional administrative support to the division as needed.
Prepare and ship materials/exhibit displays for state conferences and other events ensuring that material available for distribution at these events promote membership, certification and other strategic priorities.
Participate and support task forces, projects and activities designed to increase member recruitment, retention, engagement as well as volunteer development as assigned.
Creates a “Wow” experience through exceptional customer service and relationship management through every interaction with all stakeholders.

Must be able to multitask, be comfortable managing high volumes of inquiries, provide strong follow-through, demonstrate initiative and meet deadlines.
Clear and professional speaking and writing ability and overall communication style suited for use with members and volunteers.
Demonstrated ability to maintain high level judgement and tact, as well as perform duties in a confidential manner.
Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team environment, remain flexible and agile, and support colleagues during peak periods.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge of relational database systems, preferably membership database systems such as Personify or NetSuite.
Familiarity in conducting general review and analysis of statistical data.
THIS IS WHAT YOU MUST BRING TO THE TABLE:
High school diploma or equivalent. Associates or Bachelors degree preferred.
3-years project administration experience; comparable work-related experience in an association or membership environment highly desirable.
Experience in maintaining databases.
Experience in customer service.
