Overview

The Senior Specialist, Development’s primary focus is to manage activities related to SHRM Foundation’s annual campaign, contribute to the overall success of attaining SHRM Foundation’s revenue goals, leading development’s administrative functions and collaborating with SHRM Foundation team members to execute critical events and activities that engage donors and other development stakeholders. The Senior Specialist is assigned specific fundraising revenue goals, contribute in the development of a strategic course of action designed to execute the tactical elements of SHRM Foundation’s annual campaign, provide relationship management support and assistance to ensure timely responses to inquiries throughout the annual campaign, including liaise with internal and external partners. The Senior Specialist, Development ensures the optimization of processes, systems and infrastructure essential in order to successfully update and maintain various systems (Salesforce, etc.) to aid in tracking project deadlines, communications with SHRM Foundation staff and donors. The Senior Specialist also assists in prospect research and building a repository of potential donors for key programs and support activities associated with proposal development, grant management and reporting.

Responsibilities

Your Day:

  • Management of Annual Campaign: state chapters, councils and individual giving - manage solicitation, stewardship and communication strategies with donors and prospective donors through multiple channels, cultivate and steward donor relationships and manage solicitation process and fulfill commitments to scholarship sponsors.

  • Coordinate continuum for donor stewardship, prompting personal outreach and other special stewardship programs and recognition as determined by giving levels and donor interest. Lead the development of collateral materials and communication vehicles designed to engage prospective and existing donors.

  • Database, reporting and tracking: Lead database management system(s), working with internal and external sources as needed to deliver exceptional data for fundraising activities. Implement and manage protocol for individual donor gift entry process, establish and manage appropriate, sustainable and valued systems for communication purposes.

  • Research and pipeline development: Conduct prospect research and contribute to building a repository of potential funders for key programs and sponsorship opportunities. Track fundraising publications for important trends and new opportunities for fundraising success, including new and emerging technological advances.

  • Spearhead development administrative functions - serve as a liaison to finance, managing acknowledgement processes, tracking payments and invoices, and preparing contracts

  • Events: collaborate with SHRM Foundation program team to manage special events, working with internal departments to execute plans, determine strategic return on investment for events, execute solicitation and stewardship plan for event sponsors.

  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5 years of experience with non-profit fundraising, possessing skills related to donor solicitation, relationship and stewardship management and systems/database management

  • Personify a dynamic, professional personable style and serve as a spokesperson and organization representative before a range of stakeholder audiences for SHRM Foundation

  • Resourceful, solutions-focused ability to problem solve, with and manage multiple projects, have an eye for detail yet an appreciation and understanding of the bigger picture

  • Strong business acumen including superb written and oral communication skills, including public speaking

  • Enthusiastic team player that is highly organized, flexible and customer-service orientated who recognizes organizational needs and is willing to jump in and help

  • Demonstrate a hospitable spirit, with a commitment and a knack for strategic thinking and an understanding of the benefits of working collaboratively, openly, how to take calculated risks and position new ideas and ways of doing business that inspire and excite stakeholders

  • Self-motivated individual with a strong capacity for independent work and the ability to pivot in a short period of time
