SHRM Sr Specialist, Education Products in Alexandria, Virginia

Overview

The Educational Products department supports SHRM’s mission by offering competency-based asynchronous education to our customers to develop and elevate their skills as an HR professional. In addition, the department provides a variety of assessment tools to help Human Resources and business leaders develop strategies to drive organizational performance.

The Senior Specialist, Education Products plays an integral role in growing SHRM’s Education Products portfolio. The products within the portfolio are designed to provide HR teams, and organizations, valuable data that can help drive action plans and strategies to improve organizational performance. The Senior Specialist is responsible for new business development efforts, and is a key contributor to the development, sales, delivery, and strategic direction for existing and new products. The Senior Specialist partners with other stakeholders to complete cross-department sales and marketing efforts.

Responsibilities

Your Day:

  • Business Development

  • Develop and implement a business development strategy designed to engage the appropriate executives, based on defined client demographics, in order to generate new revenue.

  • Participate in cross-department sales calls and opportunities as the assessment product lead, providing product recommendations related to the prospect’s business needs.

  • Product Sales

  • Meet or exceed sales targets to support the overall annual budget.

  • Assume responsibility for sourcing, securing, and managing complex sales of the products; including cross-departmental product solutions and packages.

  • Support the director as the lead liaison with marketing.

  • Manage the client life cycle through the entire process, working with cross-functional teams as necessary, and serve as the primary customer contact for all activities.

  • Provide guidance to the Specialist, Educational Products to facilitate sales of products.

  • Manage the financial tracking and reporting related to assessment product sales.

  • Additional duties include generating contracts; managing and tracking client invoices; consulting and supporting the client throughout the administration to ensure the assessment is reflective of the requests/needs; and managing the ongoing relationship to identify additional opportunities.

  • Product Administration

  • Lead the ongoing relationship with external vendors to ensure that the products and services are up to the organization’s standards.

  • Make recommendations for processes and procedures to help streamline the end-to-end user experience.

  • Develop a clear understanding of the uses and functionalities across our assessment tool delivery platforms.

  • Program client projects, troubleshoot issues, and run custom reporting out of the delivery platform to ensure client satisfaction and to suggest enhancements.

  • Lead any product integrations related to any internal or external SHRM event.

  • Strategic Planning & Product Development

  • Participate in the development of strategic plans for the product portfolio.

  • Maintain an expert level of understanding of competitive products, industry and research trends, and customer feedback to make recommendations related to enhancements, product extensions, and new products.

  • Review and report out of client evaluation data, which can be used to make future decisions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Must Haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Organizational Development/Performance, or a related field

  • 5 years of professional experience with a focus on business development and consultative sales

  • Experience selling to/or consulting with executive stakeholders in the Human Resource function

  • Experience developing sales strategies to meet/exceed sales goals

  • Experience developing and delivering executive level presentations

  • Track record of meeting and exceeding goals

  • Process driven, meticulously organized and self-motivated

  • Exceptional written, verbal, listening communication skills

  • Attention to detail, with strict adherence to deadlines

  • Ability to work within a team environment, while successfully and timely delivering to internal and external customers at all levels

  • Ability to develop and follow project plans and meet associated timelines

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

  • General business acumen, with demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions

  • Solid customer service commitment, inclusive of being resourceful, team oriented, and understanding of the needs of clients

  • Strong computer software skills and ability to learn different technologies

Let us know if you also have:

  • 10 years of professional experience in the above mentioned fields

  • Experience with survey software preferred

  • Familiarity with or prior sales methodology training

  • Working knowledge of Customer Relationship Management systems
