The Senior Specialist, Regional Engagement is responsible for the member engagement and customer-centric strategy through marketing communications, content, virtual communities, and events for a SHRM Region. To achieve this engagement effort, the position works closely with the Exec Dir, Regional Operations and with other departments across SHRM, its affiliates, and external organizations to build relationships, increase recruitment, enhance engagement, SHRM certification and retention of SHRM members. This position plans, administers, and oversees engagement opportunities for Human Resource Professionals and people managers in the region by developing relationships and by identifying solutions through program and content development.
Establish and ensure that strategic plan objectives and goals for the regional community engagement are achieved within the timelines and budget established for the program through a customer-centric approach.
In collaboration with the Exec Dir, Regional Operations, and the Marketing team, implement marketing and communication plans for region program attendance, recruitment, retention, and engagement of SHRM membership.
Help oversee the entire lifecycle of programs and events designed for HR professionals and people managers in the region from inception to venue logistics and registration to post-event analysis. Partner closely with other internal departments with operational responsibility for these programs to ensure successful events.
Create and drive innovative engagement opportunities for HR Professionals by developing opportunities for them to connect and engage as a community, including but not limited to in-person and virtual networks, discussion groups, etc.
Create and develop marketing strategy content for any direct mail pieces (i.e. brochures, postcards) emails, online discussion posts, social media posts, as well as engagement with social media community through responses, likes, comments, and reposts/retweets to promote both SHRM Northern California and SHRM-wide initiatives and programs.
Develop and manage budget and relationships associated with the member engagement activities, drive revenue, and meet established financial targets.
Develop partnerships with organizations for sponsorships and access to free space for our events.
Lead, research, gather and analyze data for the regional community engagement and any relevant competitors in the assigned area.
Serve as a resource and advisor to SHRM professional members and other HR professionals in the region. Provide consultative approach to addressing concerns and interests.
Prepare presentations and communications to be delivered to HR Professionals in the region.
Maintain awareness and knowledge of global business trends that impact HR Professionals and key stakeholders in the area.
Manage relationships and engagement with affiliate chapters, state councils, communities, and volunteers through common programs.
Manage Committees and volunteer network of the region, including the Volunteer Leader Advisory Group, Membership Group, Professional Development Group, and Emerging Professionals/College Relations Group to define goals and carry out initiatives.
Assist in customer service-related tasks (minimum average of 1-3 inquires per day) such as answering questions on national conferences/seminars questions, checking membership, etc.
Other duties and projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Business or relevant field; or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in an association, non-profit or in a member driver organization.
Demonstrated experience in one or more field including project management, business development, marketing, sales, and/or meeting facilitation.
Experience writing articles, newsletters, on-line web content and with social media platforms.
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to lead and collaborate in a team environment.
Self-starter with flexibility in managing ambiguity and uncertainty.
Effective decision-making skills.
Ability to multi-task and work independently and efficiently under deadlines.
Excellent, articulate, personable, and diplomatic customer service skills.
Proficient in MS office, NetSuite/SalesForce, Marketo, HootSuite, Google Drive and various social media tools.
Experience in broadcasting and/or virtual events and platforms including (but not limited to) On24, Social27, WebEx, and Zoom.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Proficient in project management.
Acute attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
Ability to demonstrate polished executive presence.

Knowledge and prior experience in Human Resources.
Experience working with volunteers.
Experience with association, or data management software.
Previous experience planning meetings and events.
- SHRM CP/SCP within one year of employment
Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations.
Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
Light lifting is required. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force to constantly move objects.
Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.
Travel Required: Moderate 20-30%
