The Business Analytics department within the Data & Insights division of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is a multidisciplinary team of statisticians, digital analysts, and market research analysts and the principal purveyor of data and insights for all internal stakeholders and business units.

The Director –Business Analytics will oversee and manage consumer insights and analytics activities in support of all SHRM business units and stakeholders. The director provides direct technical leadership in all market and data analysis activities, including business insights for product development, revenue growth, branding, and general business strategy purposes. Working closely with Marketing, Communications, Sales, and Product colleagues, the director will manage a unit that provides swift intelligence and data that drives revenue growth and higher audience engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of market research for the Business Analytics team.

  • Design and deliver a broad business analytics strategy.

  • Oversee and optimize the holistic VOC program, including new features, audiences, and reporting.

  • Establish monitoring frameworks, statistical processes, and early warning methods for quick reaction to changing environments.

  • Identify and execute business reporting requirements with internal stakeholders; oversee the development of operational and executive dashboards in Tableau or similar platforms.

  • Use research and analytic methodologies to identify underserved needs and inform business strategies.

  • Develop and analyze surveys for quantitative research, using statistical concepts to address business challenges, as well as qualitative research projects, including focus groups and interviews.

  • Maintain and improve the concept testing process for new product ideas.

  • Organize and present findings on consumer research and business analytics, making recommendations based on data.

  • Maintain intelligence through various methodologies and databases, including competitive and market intelligence.

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of researchers, business analysts, and digital analysts.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years experience in a consumer-centric insights or analytics team working with qualitative and quantitative insights and research.

  • Expertise in primary, secondary, and database analysis research methodologies.

  • Experience with R, SPSS or SAS statistical programs, Qualtrics survey platform and with data visualization programs, particularly Tableau.

  • Strong quantitative analysis, problem-solving, and project management skills.

  • Strong communication skills, presenting insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.

  • Proven experience in consulting with business partners to make data-driven decisions.

  • Evidence of building innovative, game-changing strategies that result in measurable improvements in new customer acquisition, retention, upsell, and cross-sell.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce results within a team environment, develop productive working relationships at all levels of the organization, and appropriately challenge or influence decisions.

  • Work is regularly performed in office and conference settings, and standard office equipment is routinely used.

  • Travel Required: Occasional, about 10% of the time.

The hiring range for this position is $150,000 to $195,000 per year. This range is an estimate and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
